GKN
The former GKN Driveline factory in Campi Bisenzio, was occupied in July 2021 by redundant workers in permanent assembly with the aim of creating a public and socially integrated factory. On 10 July 2023, the GFF (formerly GKn For Future) was founded, a cooperative that issued a first solidarity package of popular shareholding to carry out the ambitious project of a bottom-up reindustrialisation, which is now beginning to take shape in the form of cargo-bikes and photovoltaic panels of an ecological nature, different from the production based on classical extractivism. On 27 December 2023, GKN won yet another dispute for anti-union conduct, which, on that same date, would have led to the definitive dismissal of the 185 remaining workers, still avoiding a real estate operation that would have left the struggle without a third way: empty factory or socially integrated factory. On 31 December 2023, the victory was celebrated at the factory with a big event, starting the New Year with a parade attended by more than 5,000 people. Narratives of the individuals that make up the movement, stories and experiences that unfold singularly and collectively, intertwining cross-cutting themes (ecological transition, Palestinian conflict, gender issue, right to work and to strike). Today the Colective of the factory keep fight, participates in social and political manifestations and organizes cultural event as the workingclass book fair. They stay united, close, strong. Still there. The struggle continues.
